TARAWERA TRAIL AND WALKS

Tarawera Falls

25 minute boat trip there, 3.5hrs return walk and a 25 minute boat trip return.
Recognised as one of New Zealand's best short walks. The Tarawera Falls Walking Track runs parallel to the Tarawera River where on the way you pass two water falls and walk through some of the most beautiful native forest in New Zealand before reaching the spectacular Tarawera Falls themselves.

To get to your walk you will taken on an exhilarating 25-minute water taxi ride across Lake Tarawera from The Landing to Te Tapahoro Bay (The Outlet) where you will be dropped off at the main jetty. We will return 3½ hours later to take you back to The Landing.
Travel is in our all-weather boat where we provide a detailed map guiding you to the Falls and back.

You will need to have good walking shoes, lunch, drinking water and a camera. We will leave The Landing at 9:00am in the morning and return you back to The Landing at 1:30pm.

Cost is $135.00 per adult and $65.00 per child (12 years and under) there is a minimum of 2 adults for this service. 

Humphries Bay (to Lake Okataina)

3hrs walk
Humphries Bay (at the Northern end of Lake Tarawera) is a pleasant picnic and overnight camping spot. It's also the start for the walk along the eastern edge of Lake Okataina to the Okataina ramp and Lodge.

The Water Taxi will drop you off at Humphries Bay (for your 7kms /3-hour walk to Lake Okataina) and you can arrange for a vehicle pick up at the Okataina boat ramp end. 

Cost is $40.00 per adult and $25.00 per child (12 years and under) there is a minimum of 2 adults required for this 
Essentials: Good walking shoes, warm jacket, camera and bottle of water

(This walk can be combined with the walk to the Tarawera Falls for a full day adventure.

Humphries Bay (to Tarawera Outlet)

3hrs walk
Humphries Bay (at the Northern end of Lake Tarawera) is a pleasant picnic and overnight camping spot. Lake Tarawera Water Taxi will drop you off at Humphries Bay (for your 7kms / 3-hour walk to Tarawera Outlet) and pick you up for your return transfer to The Landing. Alternatively you can arrange a vehicle pickup or stay the night at the camp.

Essentials: Good walking shoes, warm jacket, camera and bottle of water

(This walk can be combined with the walk to the Tarawera Falls for a full day adventure.)
