In May of 2016 it was time for me to begin a new journey, by joining my parents and the existing team at Totally Tarawera and Lake Tarawera Water Taxi. After a 10 year career in Youth, Youth Justice and Mental Health a new opportunity arose to work and play in the place I believe holds many treasures.
As a child I remember the joys of exploring Lake Tarawera, fishing, catching Koura and building huts. To share my experiences, my love for this lake, land and history only felt natural. I have the privilege of extending manaakitanga (hospitality) to all people we connect with through our family business.
The winter season has enabled me to learn the systems, tourism codes and with the team explore and plan how we can continue to offer memorable experiences with guiding, supporting trail walkers, and offering local knowledge to all of our visitors. I am looking forward to warmer summer days, when the Lake is alive with families, groups of friends, hikers, kayaks, boats and paddle boards and of course all here to enjoy the magnificent surrounding of Mount Tarawera – Bring on the summer vibes.
