Te Rata

Step out of the hustle and bustle of daily life and into one of the most beautiful and remarkable areas of New Zealand with a stay at Te Rata Glamping site – a short 20 minute drive from Rotorua by road + 20 minutes by boat across stunning Lake Tarawera.

Located in a stunning private lakeside, native bush location, with amazing views of Mount Tarawera, this 1-tent campsite is for those who want to get away from it all or enjoy the activities this area has to offer. Rich in Maori culture and history, our campsite reflects this in its design, furnishings and values.

The individual tent accommodation is constructed to reflect a local Maori cultural feel using sustainable environmental practices.

You’ll enjoy the sun rising in the morning over the sparkling clear water… a glass of wine watching the sun setting on the mountain… relax in the natural hot pool under the stars or just snuggle into the luxurious, queen-sized bed – with pure cotton bed linen, comfy pillows and thick, feather duvet.

Te Rata is a truly special place to unwind, switch off and reconnect. Immerse yourself in the stillness and peace of nature, switch off your phone and take some time to fully enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

Had enough relaxing? Try kayaking around the secluded bays, try cooking in the geothermal sand. Try one of the day walks or a night excursion to the glowworm grotto.

Your accommodation includes the return scenic boat ride to the glamping site. Alternatively, you may choose to walk into the site along the stunning Tarawera Trail while we take your clothes and food on to the glamping site so everything is ready when you get there.

Te Rata Bay Glamping is the ultimate location for a special few nights away with your significant other – you’ll never forget this place.
