Your campsite is located 100m along the beach from the Hot Water Beach DOC campsite.

It is set within a grove of mature Kanuka Trees just 50m from the edge of the lake where you can enjoy the lakes thermal waters.

Hot Water Beach

The campsite is located in Te Rata Bay at the southern arm of Lake Tarawera and is only accessible by boat or via the Tarawera Trail. This means you can go over in your own boat, jump on our water taxi or walk in the trail with us bringing in you gear so it is there before you arrive. This makes your holiday experience a real adventure.

 

What we Provide:

Bedroom Tent

  • 2 room canvas tent with an entrance porch.
  • Double bed with a foam mattress. (Front room)
  • 2 sets of bunks (Backroom)
  • Solar-powered lighting

Dining/Kitchen Tent

  • Hexagon shaped with permanent mesh 4 sides
  • Washup Sink, Storage units 20ltrs container water, crockery, utensils
  •  2 burner gas hob, gas grilling plate.
  • Kitchen table and chairs

Bathroom Tent

  • Chemical toilet

Hot Water Beach Cooking

On request, we can email you free our Hot Water Beach Recipe book so the family can try cooking in the geothermal water and ground.

It will give you recipes of how-to and what you require to cook your food successfully from an egg to a leg of lamb. (Note you should always put items to cook in a sealed bag or container)

 

 

What you bring:

  • Sheets or duvet for a double bed.
  • Pillows
  • Sheets or sleeping bags for children. (Self- inflating mattress provided for bunks)
  • Towels
  • Personal clothing, toiletries, sunblock, insect repellent
  • Food, beverages, conderments,
  • Chilly bin for frozen foods including ice-packs.
  • Torch for exploring

Please note: if your personal gear is being transported by boat try to pack so there are not too many bags and items can easily be lifted on and off the boat.
