TARAWERA FALLS

Recognised as one of best waterfalls and short walks in New Zealand. The Tarawera Falls walking track runs parallel to the Tarawera River which is the final outlet to the sea for seven of Rotorua’s lakes.

Along the way to the falls you pass two other cascading water falls and walk through some of the most beautiful native forest in New Zealand before reaching the spectacular Tarawera Falls themselves.

TIMING:

09:00am Departs The Landing, Lake Tarawera
45 minute cruise to Te Tapahoro

9:45am Start the 3.5hrs return walk to the Tarawera Falls.

01:30pm Water Taxi pick up at The Jetty, Tapahoro Bay and return to The Landing.
02:15pm Arrive The Landing, Lake Tarawera.

A minimum of two people is required.

What to bring

Good walking shoes (Tramping boots not required), lunch, drinking water and a camera. Take your swimming costumes and a towel in the summer for a swim at designated spots.
